Illustrations were designed to depict the engagement and relationship between people and technology. The IBM Watson color scheme was manipulated to ‘illuminate’ key points, while varying levels of opacity and layering were used to convey transparency in data and create depth in the visuals.
Build
Isometric elements were created starting with flat graphics using simple shapes—squares, circles, triangles, and rectangles—then 3D effects in Illustrator were applied to achieve perspective. Once the correct angle was established, objects were refined with color and scale adjustments. IBM later enhanced this approach by applying a grid system to maintain consistency and balance across the isometric style.
Usage
The isometric illustration style communicates vibrant and technical ideas. Its spatial perspective enables engaging layouts of environments, objects, people, and technology.
